In a shocking incident, a 53-year-old fell to his death in Coimbatore after his parasailing attempt went haywire. The incident took place at around 11.30 am on Sunday. when the buckle of his parachute opened and he fell to the ground while parasailing in Coimbatore. The deceased has been identified as Malleswara Rao, police said.
Indian Aero Sports and Science Club and Coimbatore Government Medical College conducted a parasailing event at Codissia on Sunday morning as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the medical college. The club collected Rs 500 from each person who wanted to parasail for 20 minutes.
Club director ‘Glider’ Babu said that Malleswara Rao unlocked the parachute while flying and fell to the ground. Though sources said that Rao’s hip harness malfunctioned despite which he was holding to the parachute for nearly a minute before he fell down. According to India Today report.
Malleswara Rao, who sustained severe injuries, died on the spot. The dead body was sent to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.
