At least four persons were injured in the stampede during the Navy recruitment rally at INS Hamla in Mumbai‘s Malad. around 4000 candidates to participate in the recruitment but things went out of control when around 6,000 showed up at INS Hamla to appear in an exam organised by the Indian Navy. The incident happened on Friday morning when the institute opened the gate allowing the candidates to enter in when the candidates ran in to be first in the queue, As a reported by TOI.

The Indian Navy in official statement said, “There was a recruitment rally at INS Hamla in Mumbai’s Malad on Friday morning for senior secondary recruits. We were expecting a good response from volunteers. However, the response was overwhelming and crowd control created a bit of confusion (in the early hours) which was subsequently handled very efficiently by the local police and navy officials,” According to DNA report.

Four persons were injured in the process and had to be admitted to a hospital. The Malwani police personnel present at the recruitment rally controlled the situation and the drive is going on smoothly now. INS Hamla is a naval base on the western shore of Mumbai.
