Old age, it’s when the family moves away and friends pass away. It’s not easy, the life of an old person. Old age is a painful time to live in. Edwin Holmes, an 86-year-old, regularly visits the Sainsbury store in London. On one of his visits, a store worker, Ellie Walker found out that he felt very lonely because Mr. Holmes had no friends or family.
Mr. Holmes was spending Christmas alone and Ellie found out that. Mr. Holmes lost his wife in 2006 after 45 years of marriage. And his daughter and grandchildren live in Australia. She decided to be a good human being and asked Mr. Holmes out on a date.
“I THOUGHT IF IT WAS MY GRAND DAD AND HE WAS ALONE I WOULD WANT SOMEONE TO TALK TO HIM.”
Mr. Holmes graciously agreed although he was a tad nervous. Later, just like a perfect gentleman, he turned up with flowers, dressed in his best suit. It was, in 55 years, Mr. Holmes first date and he was as nervous like a small kid, but in the end, they did ended up having a very good time together and enjoyed their company.
We need people like Ellie, in an age where kids are giving up on their parents when they become old. She has restored our faith in humanity! I hope you learned something good from this article and do help the old people when you see them alone.
